American Bison are mystical creatures for me. They have endured for centuries, withstood almost sure extinction and were the economic engine for many indigenous people. In a number of cultures they have strong ties to a spirit, and spiritual, world. This oil painting brings together mystical elements--the cycles of the moon, the aggressiveness of Mars, a warrior planet, and the guiding light of Venus, the first star many see on a clear night. Oil on a raised wood panel.
